What's new

The Coffee House

Many years ago my job involved a lot of travel, had customer in Muskegon. I remember one early September I met him for a round of golf. The day started good, but rapidly devolved. We didn't get to finish the front nine before a lake effect snow storm drove us to the clubhouse.
Yep - that's on the wrong side of the state! :biglaugh:

Eastern/SE is how you avoid the bulk of lake effect snow. By the time it's marched across the state we get more manageable amounts. :D

@snowbear at least the likelihood of you ending up in OZ from a tornado or hurricane is relatively slim in your part of the world. @terri despite being safe from hurricanes, is still at risk for the occasional tornado :pride:

True. They do pass through on their way back out to the sea but I believe they lose they cyclonic behavior by then.

Earthquakes happen. A little one (1.6) north of Augusta, last week.

We're in the Southern Appalachian Seismic Zone, so we get several in the 2.1 to 2.7 range. We had one in February about 30 miles from us that registered 2.6. The biggest was this month in 2003 - 4.6 also in the same general epicenter. I grew up in the bootheel of MO, not far from the New Madrid fault line so they were a fact of life. As a young teenager, I actually witnessed the ground rolling on a 5.0.

Hosers, it's supposed to hit 84°F today, after a lovely warm week already. Buds have popped all over. Spring has sprung and the chilly part of April has passed.

Pollen is now dusting the cars and roads - in tolerable amounts. ;)

Ugh the pollen! It’s nothing here like it is in the south, but it has been wreaking havoc on my sinuses.

When I was in High School I provided the profits for anti-histamine companies. Now it's not so bad. If I want to, I can live without them, or I can take them for maybe a couple of the worst weeks. I prefer not to use them at all because if I can put up with the worst days, I think my body probably adapts quicker. I can't prove that, but then again, I'm getting through it either way.

I'm a bit annoyed with my weather luck. I could describe things more precisely, but the bottom line is that yesterday was a wonderful "lightly overcast" day where a few fluffy white clouds showed up in the late morning and through the early afternoon. It would have been a great time-lapse, but I didn't set up my camera. Today was not so good, with too much overcast. I recorded today, and after reviewing it, I deleted it. I probably won't get weather like that again this year.

I agree. I rarely take anything for it - only if I have something going on where I need relief.

I moved a huge pile of brush today from a few trees I cut down today. It was nice to be outdoors with some warm weather getting some stuff done!
