First decent studio strobe.

I'll mess with that set-up and see what I can do.

That's what it's all about. Play with it, and have lots of fun.

It's also handy to keep a notepad around & write down some of your basic layouts and settings. That way if something comes out that you really like, you have some notes to duplicate it.....or at least get close.
 
I have read many times that light gives the biggest bang for the buck. This is true with even my cheap 150w/s light:
