What's new

The Coffee House

Got into the glove compartment and removed the shredded cabin filter. Got all the shred out, and the fan runs quietly now, so no need for a visit to the dealership for R&R action. Replaced the OEM cabin filter with a MicroGard hepa filter. Cleaned out the cabin and sprayed Havahart pest repellent, which smells really nice, but supposed the critters can't stand the smell. I then parked the car around the front of the house in hopes that the rat won't venture out front. We'll see.

Happy that worked!

Beautiful weather here, perfect temperatures but............the ""yellow plague" is in full on mode. Yesterday there was a noticeable yellowish haze in the air from the Pine pollen flying. It was drifting on the pavement like fine yellow snow, and covered anything left outside with a yellow film. Our next reprieve isn't until Sunday when the prediction calls for rain that will clear the air and wash away the accumulated dust.

Damp and cold here. It really chills you to the bone when it’s like this. Typical early April weather. I’m both sad and happy that I no longer have to sit outside at softball games during this type of weather. The pollen hasn’t started here yet but it’s coming.

On the home front- Princess will be graduating college next month! That certainly flew by. She plans to work as an EMT for a year to get her patient care hours in before applying to a PA program. She got her EMT certification last summer.

WHAT????? It was just yesterday you were posting that she was leaving for school. Congratulations to her!

We have two Grandsons graduating in May. One is a Chemistry major who is already interviewing and the other is an International Engineering major, who will continue working on his Masters while working in a research project at the school.

What an interesting morning. It was snowing, freezing rain, thunder and lightning all at the same time. A couple lightning strikes were really close which woke me up early. I've experienced thundersnow before but not like this..felt like summer but there was snow and ice on the ground. Weird! Below freezing this morning after the storm past but its suppose to be in the mid 60s today. Not sure if that's true since its 11am now and it's still only 35f.

News filtered in today. A little village of about 500 families, 10 miles from my hometown in the Bootheel of MO was obliterated by an EF3 tornado yesterday. Only a few house left unscathed, but fortunately only one death from the destruction. They'll be without power for many days while the power company completely rebuilds the grid. A local farmer I known lost the roof off his house, and equipment shed. Scattered/upended his equipment and grain storage bins all over his farm. The storm path continued to Cape Girardeau, MO tracking right down the main drag, past the 13 story building that houses the TV station. For the first time in its 30yr history the signal went dead for several minutes when they all had to evacuate to the basement when the exterior plate glass windows started shattering.

We're getting it all, high winds, chilly air, damp, rainy, and when it isn't raining, the pollen. The rain cleans my car off, and then a few hours later, another layer of fine yellow dust. One of the few times I like my CPAP, since it has an intake filter, and a HEPA filter between the mask and the hose. The heat actually kicked in for a bit this morning, but now its 61F and some fool has the door open to keep the house from getting stuffy... @SquarePeg, congrats on the kiddo graduating!
