The Coffee House

Howdy folks! Hope everyone is doing well. I'm still battling whatever it is I'm battling. A night of chills and sweats is always fun. I get dizzy when I stand, and if I sneeze or cough... oh my! The top of my head feels like it will explode! 🤧🤒

In other news, a rat decided to make its home in the engine compartment of my Honda. Hoping that the fuel guage inop and emissions system not working are related to the cold, and not that little bugger chewing on wires. Didn't see any evidence of chewing. Set out a live trap and will try and catch the little bugger, hold a mock trial, and then transported to Australia... ok, maybe not that far, but over to the wildlife refuge where it can make friends with the coyotes, bob cats, and various raptors.

MLSIL was released yesterday evening and is home now. Staying at her place, helping MLW, for a couple weeks, until I trek back Northeast.

My wooden boat model store is having a sale. I have a Viking longboat and the Bluenose II (the Canadians will know it) on my wishlist. Maybe I can get one of them.

Wonderful

Guessing combo barometric pressure changes causing a touch of vertigo. Hits me occasionally and not--as argued by censorious frau--as a result of over-refreshment. You mentioned low humidity recently. That combined with cold can be helped with a cool mist humidifier, Use 'em up here where forced air heat can produce Sahara-like humidity levels indoors.
Rodents...Red squirrels and chipmunks sometimes cache goodies in my VW Golf's engine bay.No wire munching but wonder how nut shells get into the air cleaner box. Some witch doctors dab peppermint extract under the hood as repellent.

That does not sound fun at all! Get well soon!

Here's hoping your little invader gets safely captured and relocated. I agree with cgw about the peppermint extract or even essential oils - they don't like that stuff.

Guess I prefer the finality of nasty trap.

Having squirrels and rats in the house attic (and bats in my belfry even...) and having tried peppermint oil, it doesn't work. Smells nice but doesn't work. Yeah, I don't think that any wires have been chewed, definitely no telltale signs under the car or where the wires are visible. Hoping when the weather warms up tomorrow, that both issues will fix themselves, and it was just a little frozen moisture somewhere. As for the sinus issues, I'll add water to my cpap and that will help. I usually run it without water in the chamber, because I'm more concerned about mold and mildew hiding in the machine during the warmer months. Probably will invest in a humidifier so that I can dry the cpap out again.

Thanks! Hopefully I shake it in time that it doesn't mess up my weekend, temp is supposed to be 61F.

I rescue insects and pillbugs wandering aimlessly around my bathroom and take them outside...
I do the same except with stink bugs. Stink bugs get picked up with a tissue, very gently, then sent for a burial at sea.

Lazy lobster unintentionally brought a cockroach home from college (DCAD). I freaked and smashed it to a two dimensional blob.
