G'day all
While acknowledging Jeff's OP, may I bump this post with several images to show the wonderful versatility of these cameras.
We're "on he wallaby" (Aussie slang for we've hit the road Jack...) and sitting quietly in a park I could hear the squark of cockatoos and corellas (similar birds) in a tree about 35metres / 120 feet away. The Lumix FZ-300 (24x zoom) was on the table alongside me, so here's 3- images
1)- the tree some 30m away

exif- FZ-300, 1/640s x F4,0; 1x zoom, ISO-100
2)- the image at 24x zoom (435mm Equiv dSLR / 625mm equiv FFrame)

exif as above, 24x zoom
3)- a crop from above
