This hawk and I have become quite friendly. I restored the backyard to native meadow and it was bursting with life this summer past. Lots of field birds hunting insects and seeds, mice for the raptors, dragonflies for days in the early months.

Stunning photo! Redtails are a favorite. So glad to hear of your restoration efforts. I've turned some ground back and am building a honeybee, Monarch, hummingbird garden.

I was within 15 feet or so for these shots. I've gotten that close a few times and it has even come that close while I've been sitting in the yard. I think I've achieved "maybe friend, not foe" status.
