After days of wandering the refuge and not seeing anything I got these three in one afternoon. The snowy and short-eared are heavily cropped long shots.
Long-eared.

Some very nice shots! Owl take my hat off to you!
Okay, I just finished reading your last post in The Coffee House, which also contained a pun. Like, 5 minutes ago. Looks like you're on a roll.
Please stop. 🙏

Or Owl ban you for making bad puns.

:biglaugh:

My favorite is the snowy owl with the unique coastal background!
Seeing and photographing a snowy owl is on my bucket list.
I lived in Alaska for 30 years and saw lots of caribou, muskox, lynx, wolverines, wolves, etc.
but no snowy owls. I lived in Dover, New Hampshire for 2 years but no snowy owls.
I am always checking E-bird for any sightings!

Seems you're finding them easily, I've still never seen a wild one here to photograph.

Lucky you..
VERY NICE CAPTURES 😍🥰♥️
I'll admit, I'm a little jealous...as I have yet to see or capture an owl
Your story and photos has motivated me.
Thank you for posting!!

I have a hard time just finding one and you capture three in the same day. Well done.

We are lucky they migrate to our area in the winter. They were pretty scarce the last couple of years but seem to be making a come-back this year. This is the first I've seen one this year.

Thanks for the comments.

During the season that they are here photographers flock (pun intended) to the refuge to see them. All you have to do is keep your eye out for a crowd of cameras and tripods and you will know where they are. Although for the shorty I spotted him alone and had him all to myself.
