I bought a used Bowens Prolight. My light stand is has a similar part as the one in the second picture. I believe it called a spigot? However my Prollite didnt come with the piece that is pictured on the bracket to accept the spigot.

Instead it came with a manfrotto 13 (or manfrotto style) double end stud adapter. Based on a lookup of the part it I think the knob on the bowens bracket is 3/8" female thread but how can I easily go from the 3/8" female thread of the light bracket to the 'male' spigot on the light stand..

Is there a product name for the spigot receptor?

I think that one might work.. I am going to head to B&H or Adorama at lunch. Does the part at the end of light stand have a name? I am talking about the silver part that is basically a shaft with a skinnier middle section. I see references to spigot but wasnt sure if that was correct name.

It also looks like an umbrella holder like this would work except for the fact that the thread is 1/4". That can be solved I assume with a 1/4" to 3/8" thread adapter.

studs.

let me see if I got this correct: you have the flash, but no adapter to attach it to the stand? and the stand has a stud on the top already?

the device I linked will work pefectly in this case. You'd attach it to the bracket on your strobe through one of the holes and secure it with that nut (i'd also use a washer). then you'd fit the adapter over the stud and secure it with the thumb screw.

The stand had a stud but not a stud with a thread on the end. The stud does't really screw in to the arm. It slids in to the arm and is held in place with a set screw. This means I cant really replace the stud at the end with one that has a male thread.

I agree that what you posted is what I need. I am almost 100% certain what you linked to is exactly what I need. I started off searching ebay 'light stand accessories' and same up with so much stuff that is for speed lights with the smaller thread.. I am going to buy what you recommended. I was thinking about also getting a swivel/umbrella adapter. I am attaching my prolite to a small boom arm. The swivel would allow me to make some adjustments without adjusting the stand after I weigh it down.
