What's new

Good video editing software?

I am having a terrible day with Pinnacle Studio 19. It is "importing" all my clips on a 1T storage. What is "importing"? I don't know. It better not be making a bunch of new files somewhere. If it's just cataloguing that's not too bad, but it is a waste of time. All I wanted to do was to splice a couple of short clips into a 5 min. clip. It's already well past 25 min and I'm still waiting for the program to come back to me. A complete waste of my time.
You should try Clipify, it's way simpler than what you're describing and you can cut out parts of the video easily:

I've been using Movavi for almost a year and it's pretty solid for video editing. It's got a range of features like basic cutting, transitions, and effects, which are quite user-friendly. It's straightforward to pick up, even for beginners, and they offer a trial period if you're looking to test it out first. For more detailed insights, especially if you're considering alternatives to Final Cut Pro on Windows, you might find this link helpful: https://www.movavi.com/learning-portal/final-cut-pro-windows-alternatives.html.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Davinci Resolve. There's a very robust free version and it's far more stable than Premier. Also Resolve is the industry standard for professional color grading - so you can do it all in one program. It's not hard to learn and there are lots of tutorials out there.

I'm little bit worried, lol

I eventually went from free version of DaVinci Resolve, to studio version. And I love it

Does the studio version carry the H265 codec on a Windows computer? I shoot on a Canon in CLOG and the non-studio version (on Windows) can't "read" the file.

Didn't want to particularly go and buy a Mac.

AFAIK, yes it does
It edits with C-log

Look at this video, I think you will find that the free version also edits C-log. This video shows for DR 17, which is good enough for DR 18.6

So I've started playing with video on my Android and in looking for video editing software Free Video Editing Software

So I've started playing with video on my Android and in looking for video editing software.. just something free for now to play with... kinda like Movie Maker on iOS. I've googled and tried a bunch of "free" stuff but it either has crazy watermarks or requires in-app purchases. I've downloaded about 8 different apps and none have been free. Ideas?

The player that comes with my Samsung works well. Change color, speed, crop, cut and splice, etc. No ads, no watermarks.

I don't know if this will work with your iOS device

After years of working with my combination of Pinnacle and DVDvideosoft's Suite, it looks like DVDvideosoft has "gone away". The last update has stopped it from working and now the site has a "login" but it does not seem to be for video software. I'm not sure what's going on. Anyway, I'm considering moving to new software. I see something called "NCH". Has anyone tried this? Also there is something called "filmora wondershare". Again, has anyone tried this?

DVDvideosoft
Lately I've been having problems with DVDvideosoft's video editing suite. I think it's missing something in its front end. There are a number of small utilities that do the actual work, so it might be possible for me to get at least some work done as-is, but I hope they fix it soon.

The tool I needed was the utility to separate the sound from a video file into an MP3 sound file. I was able to get that done. I was using my Canon Vixia R40's to record my poetry reading files, which I then separated into audio files and re-combined them into a single new video with a title screen. I intend to make more of these. My main alternative is to record them on my Shure microphone setup, which gives much better sound, but does not have ALC to keep the volume level. Actually, I might try the Shure mic for a different reading. I'm not that good a reader, so I don't think it would turn out acceptably. I'll just have to try it and find out.
