Degree vs Certificate

Just a slight clarification...that education is not free. One, we paid into it during our first year of service, and two, we served.

It is a beneift, and a nice one, but I assure you, it is not free.

The new Gi Bill isn't paid into, but yes, time was our payment.

I didn't know that...we had to pay into ours.

I had to pay into mine as well, but that is for the Montgomery GI Bill... The post 9/11 gi bill has no buy in. After I you use the post 9/11 you get the 1200 back.

No not med Sep. They changed the service limitations for picking up E6 from 13 years to 10 years in the marine corps. I'm at 9.5 years and bc of the down sizing I got the cut. It happens j guess.

And I remember paying into the MGIB. And there was a kicker as well. Don't remember if I paid into the 9/11 one tho. If I get money back then is be happy.

You are supposed to be grandfathered in. Yeah MGIB was paid into post 9/11 is not.

Ballistics maybe you can answer this. With Yellow Ribbon Schools, the post 9/11 will pay 17.5k for a year and depending on how much the school matches (50,80 or 100% pr whatever) then i would just have to pay the difference in what the school did not contribute. correct?? thats been my understanding of it so far

That's right, however NY falls under the "more expensive" category and the VA will cover more than $17,500. Put it this way, I'm under the impression that the VA will cover schools $25k/year and in some cases higher.

yea. its just racking my brain trying to figure out where to go....ive managed to settle on FIT or Brooklyn College. Kingsborough USED to have a photography program but from what ive seen on the website they do not anymore...

Visit the schools and check out the programs first person before you commit. FIT splits their photography program into 2 degrees, so if you get your AAS somewhere else, you can pick up from where you left off for your BFA
