Up on the dunes, the Sea Oats are very drought tolerant. They produce a massive root system, tolerate salt spray and brief inundation with salt water, and helps protect the beach from erosion. It prefers full sun, and thrives in areas with blowing sand. Burial of the plant’s base by blowing sand actually stimulates plant growth and helps the plant spread.

@Jeff G Thank you

@zulu42 I'd like to take credit for it, but I just recorded what mother nature gave me. The sunset started out with a lot of rich pinks, but faded away quickly as the sun set. As I was headed up the beach the light pink glow from the setting sun behind me really made these sparkle.

Nice picture! I love the colors.

@Dean_Gretsch and when none sprouted you'd go out the next Saruday and replant?

@CherylL we took an airboat tour through the mangroves at Everglades City, FL. Those are some seriously thick growing plants.

@K9Kirk thank you
