Not sure what you mean by that comment. The EF has a smart metering pattern that limits the top area where the bright sky traditionally skews your metering. It puts more emphasis on the center and lower elements of your shot preventing blowouts of bright skylines.

Minolta developed that type of proto-matrix metering for the SRT-101 in the mid-60s.

Exactly - perfect for the tyro who cannot, or doesn't care to, learn how to meter a scene.

The meter pattern alone marks it as an amateur snapshot camera.
THAT reply says a whoooole lot .......
but nothing at all about photography.
