What's new

Any Pentax people left? All these posts seem to be years old.

I'll stately posting a bunch of photos tht according to popular wisdom, couldn't be taken with aPentx camera body.

It's not a lot, unless you consider that I don't get a lot of opportunity, an I haven't missed many opportunities.

I've been shooting Pentax since 1967, so just wondering if there is any point in coming here.

We are very close to the same time frame, started with Pentax in 72, been with it ever since. Currently have a K1000, ZX-M, K3ii, K1Mii, and wide selection of glass. My first love is studio portrait, but will occasionally shoot landscape and other genre.

One of my favorites from a street location last year.

I am shooting with Pentax, tried mirrorless and found it boring and souless.

I still use my K5ii quite a bit (as well as the Pentax Q & Q-10 less often) indeed in recent months it's been my most used system - usually the one I take to our weekly camera workshops.

I can be VERY slow at putting images on line but here's one with the K5ii & a Pentax DA 55-300 lens (many shots on this occasion were with a Tamron 10-20 UWA)

and a similar but slightly older one with the DA18-55

Both taken during workshop wire wool sessions.
At least these are both shots that are less than a year old :)

I was thinking about buying a used Pentax DSLR actually. I don't have a camera anymore and these are pretty affordable now but still take incredible photos. The lenses are great too.

My wife uses a K-5iis, that she got for $200. It’s a great camera for that money. Often when we have been shooting side by side, reduced to 3840x2160, it’s the same as my K-1. Ad I rarely need more than that these days. My 4k TV is my choice of isplay these days.

The above is way more responses than I expected. Sorry about putting this in the Pentax lenses section, I guess I wasn’t paying attention. But while we’re at it, I just finished a colletion of images from Niagara Falls taken over the years…..if anyone is interested.

A sample image,Il ove the opportunity to take candids of random strangers, I live out in the bush, so, I don’t get many of those, but my stepson lived in Niagara Falls, ON for 6 years so that’s when these were taken.

One of my favourites...

I bought myself a K1000 for a college graduation gift. That was...crap, that was 32 years ago. It's still my favorite camera. I have never stopped shooting with it.

I took these two shots a few weeks after I get the camera. It was the first time that I saw images that starting matching what I saw in my head that made me want to take pictures in the first place. It was pretty much when I fell in love with my K1000.

When I first started thinking about photography in college, I had an image like this in my head but I didn't know how to capture it. I didn't even know the camera I had at the time would never produce a picture like this. So getting this felt like a little triumph.

Two more taken after I had had the K1000 for so long that it felt like an extension of my arm, and I knew how to get the images I wanted exactly how I pictured them in my head.
