Abraham Lincoln's Home

As for artistic effect I like the bright image. And wow is it bright. I like the image as is and I think most would find it's appeal.

I opened it in Photoshop to look at histogram. Impressive. One drawback for me is the sky. It's not as bright as your subject and lacks detail.

Edit: Add transparent layer place it below bg layer. Select bg layer. Menu > select > color range.
Color range> Fuzziness 104. Quick mask selection. I then used a soft eraser tool to delete the background. It was a perfect selection. I can send you the psd if u wish. I won't upload based on your not edit.

This was entirely color graded in LR. The sky was overcast, to bright and lacked detail. Using LR masks brought down the EV and allowed the sky details to come through. It also adds to the luminous effect of the house.

yeah I understand that.

I dont🤣.

I may have to pay a subscription or something to learn some of this editing stuff one day. The laptop nere is ancient and slow as fk & i dont ever use it. I like my Samsung tablet.

Is it better to do all this kind of stuff on a computer rather than Android apps on a tablet?

Editing on a computer equipped to handle the processing load, and good calibrated monitor makes the job easier and produces higher quality final results. You can use the free version of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom mobile app | iPad, iPhone, and Android devices | Adobe for editing on your tablet.

Im using the free lightroom & photoshop on the tablet for the basic editing of my shots when it needs it, but yeah I'd like to be able to do the mask & layering stuff. Change a sky out ect.

But yeah im not sure paying subscriptions is worth it for me as id most probably hardly ever use it.

Would rather pay a one off amount for a disc to install on a laptop. Im not computer savvy at all, they give me anxiety mostly trying to understand what a plug in is ect.

If i did purchase a disc would i get like updates for the product or would one have to upgrade to a newer disc version every few years?

If this makes sense😅.

Nice shot. The verticals look good. I like the sky the way it is. Subtle skies rule. They don't make me nervous like they do some photographers.

There are several alternatives out there to the subscription model, for one time purchase and offer "try before you buy". However you'll be looking at something more powerful than a tablet to run them.

Because of my location and height difference there was some perspective distortion, LR handled the corrections quickly.

Maybe I'm getting lazy, maybe less fascination with editing, or the improvements in LR are having an effect on me, but unless it's a creative piece, I prefer to work with what I have. Good editing starts before the shutter snaps, with a good exposure, good composition and full data file, so your edits are for improvements, not correcting mistakes.

The colors pop! I like the framing. Last time I toured the home was back in the 70s when a friend's sister was one of the guides. We got the behind the scenes tour before it opened.

Thanks, I wish we hadn't been rushed for time, would've enjoyed the tour.
