Last count about 6 years ago was well over 4000. Since then I have 8 bankers boxes full of them, plus lots of single lenses. I also have about 200 to list on E-bay as "parts repair".

I also have around 40-50 8mm movie cameras and projectors as well as some 16mm ones. And don't get me started about typewriters and radios and LP's......LOL

Here is but a tiny display in my apartment......

I don't know what to say. 4000 is a lot. My head hurts thinking about it haha.

I've never had a Land camera, but I have Polaroid backs for my Crown Graphic and Graflex XL and those prints were always popular at family get-togethers and handy for documenting projects around the house.

Must have been on sale. He paid $114 for the camera itself, and threw in some film, flash bulbs, and a self timer for a total of $126. About $1200 today. And that shows how much he wanted and loved this camera - that was a LOT of money for a man supporting his wife and three kids (my sister and I weren't born yet) on a mechanic's salary.

I've been collecting cams since the mid-80's.

Here is what I have brought home from the trash at work in the last 2 months.......It's crazy what gets thrown out.
The crown jewel in this batch is on the left, a Vivitar 400mm w/Pentax K mount and it's in mint shape (Keeping that one!).

When you gotta invite me over so we can play cameras 🤣

I been trying to collect some interesting cameras for fun, I don't have much intentions on using them unless they use film that's still being produced today. My goal is to find interesting cameras only while thrifting or yard sales/flea markets rather than just finding them online. It's gives me a reason to check these stores out and it's been fun coming across some cameras and connecting with others in the process.

Anyways, yesterday I stopped at a quaint little thrift shop in a small town and I came across this Polaroid Land Automatic 100 camera sitting on the shelf and the owner said it's been sitting there for months. I asked if she would take $20 and I she said sure! It came with all the original documentation/manuals and even the box! Also the flash unit too!

it's in decent shape, really needs to be gone through and cleaned up. It still has the original battery in it from the mid 60s which has kinda exploded on the inside and swelled. I gotta get that cleaned up, but other than that...it all functions just fine. No holes in the bellows either.

I know film isn't available for this beast anymore and I may have overpaid on it. I dunno. But it's pretty cool and it will look really nice on display and just happy I saved a camera from the landfill! It's actually really cool using the rangefinder and pretending to shoot with it because its such a unique experience. it almost makes you want to take photos because of how hands on it is. My Nikon Z6II just works and I never have to think about it and It kinda takes away the fun that got me into photography in the first place, anyways I'm just rambling now.

Here's some pictures I took before it started snowing!

That's nice!
A year ago I picked up a Polaroid 120 at an antique/flea market for €60.00 - roughly $65.00
The camera is in perfect condition and everything works, even the self-timer.
I attached a 4x5" film cassette to the back with 2 sturdy elastic bands a few times - on YouTube I saw someone who showed how to detach the back without damage - and then used black & white photo paper to expose, develop in paper developer and you get a negative image that can be converted into a positive image via the computer.

Sadly I can remember when that camera first came out! Long long time ago. I like those old cameras just to look at. This got me up to look for my old brownie, around here somewhere but don't remember where any more. Did find my old Kodak Duraflex III 620 camera. Even has the flash still but haven't seen a flash bulb for it in years. sticker still on it from when I bought it, $4! camera I wish I had, my step dad got my older brother when he graduated high school in 1963. Rolli flex twin lens! Bad thing about it my brother never used that camera even one time I know of. Wish I had it. Have an old Yashica twin Lens camera and now and then I do take it out and shoot it. Old cameras are a hoot!

Meh, not worth it. There's no advantage to that in terms of image goals (and by that, I mean both technical quality and artistic goals). Instax film is...okay. But then just get an Instax camera. And if you want to shoot integrated Impossible Project film, then look for a functional SX-70 camera. They're fun, too.

As for price, when I get home, I will check what my father paid since I still have the receipt.
If something is worth it or not is simply a state of mind. Of course I live on a social security check so I'd have to think twice. I still have 3 boxs of fuji chrome 100 in 620 for my old Yashica. Even if I found more now I'm not sure I could afford it. But if I cut out grocery's I could squeeze in a few rolls! :) Using old cameras like that are not about image goals!

@webestang64 I remember those photos of your display case... I could come over and just stand there drooling on the glass! lol

@limr Leo, I have an SX-70, one with metal and brown/tan leather. It's an absolute joy to use, one of my favorite cameras. Edwin Land is (was) the man!!

Ansel Adams used/tried out Polaroid Land cameras, he and Edwin Land knew each other. Andy Warhol was known for using an SX-70 (and the 'Big Shot').

@webestang64 What are those two SLR's in your latest haul? One has a box top still in the holder on the back (and yes, using those type cameras I'd stick the top of the box of film in there).

You can use old cameras with instant film without spending huge amounts of money to convert one instant camera into another kind of instant camera. There are SX-70s or 600s available and there is still film being made for them. I still have a stash of peel-apart film for my Land Camera, and when that's done, I'm not going to mutilate the camera just to keep using it with integrated instant film or 120 film. I have an SX-70 for instant, and I have several medium format cameras to shoot 120, including some TLRs which are great fun to use. For me, the fun of using the Land Camera *is* the peel-apart film. If I can't use it that way, I just don't see the point of adapting it to another kind of film just for the sake of using the camera.

That would be a Minolta XG-M with the film box top and the other is a Minolta SRT 101. The one in the case is a Yashica 1C and in the box is a Argus brick. Brown case is a B&H 8mm movie cam.
The one laying on top is a cool 126 cam..... Ricoh 126C-Flex TLS - Camera-wiki.org - The free camera encyclopedia

BTW.....just brought home another camera case full of junk lenses, drives and......
Pentax MG and ME w/ 50mm's
Canon AE-1 w/ 50mm
Olympus OM-2
Nikon EL-2 and F2 (missing finder)
and the crown jewel of trash.....Mamiya 645 w/ 150mm

I've collected a few old cameras of no real value too, proudly displayed on a shelf.
