Any info at all would be appreciated, I can't find much information about these lenses :) All I know is that it will be manual focus on my camera :)

Sigma makes Quantaray lenses, and they were originally exclusively sold through Ritz Camera stores, until Ritz merged with Wolf Camera. Then both Ritz and Wolf stores sold Quantaray lenses.

There is not much info online, likely because with the limited number of stores selling it not many were sold. Google

It's a prime, so it will probably be better quality than their notoriously lousy zooms, but I wouldn't expect a whole lot out of it. Quantaray has a reputation as a low end brand.

Quantaray has a reputation as a low end brand. Agreed!
Don't think there are any flickr groups for that brand.
I would save my dollars and strive for better glass.
As also going to manual Ai or Ais lenses is an option.
.

Extremely low end...

Save your money and buy a better-quality used lens. Out of curiosity, why do you want a 28mm lens? It's not the most useful focal length on a crop-body. A 35mm might be a better choice.

Nikon's kit lens is sure to be better than anything stamped with Quantaray on it. (at least from my experience)

Quantaray is to lenses as Playskool is to computer hardware.

Get the 18-55 VR kit lens, or Tamron 17-50/2.8 non-VC.

Sigma made these lenses for Ritz / Wolf, and they are pretty good. It's really hard to go wrong with a prime anyway, but you'll like the color rendition and sharpness. 28mm is the ideal focal length for an APCS sensor, as the approximate 35mm focal length works out to be 42mm - 43mm depending on your make of camera. 43mm is the perfect "normal" focal length for 35mm cameras, (24mm x 36mm, the diagonal is 43mm). The difference of 1mm won't make any difference. 50mm lenses are still considered normal, but slightly telephoto, so not a perfect normal.
