Portraits with a light wand

I took the usual Halloween photos of the grands and then these with the light wand. It wasn't dark yet so I placed them in the dark alcove by their front door way. Edited in ACR & PS. A little tricky getting the right camera settings where the background was dark and their faces still had light. My daughter helped hold the wand and we tried different colors & placement. Good thing the grands are patient.

Nice. For me, #1 is the look you're after. Did lots with film--misses usually outnumbered hits!
It can also be fun with architecture or landscapes. Tree are worth a try at night, too.

So they make the scream mask in bone i see, Halloween isn't a thing here so dont get to see costumes and props.

I don't get this photography at all. No smiles. It's a happy occasion is it not? No scary faces. It's a time for creativity right? All I see are solemn unemotional faces.

#1 is my favorite. I think the green light showed up better. I'll have to try it with trees. Last year I put the light in a small stone structure that looked like the light was glowing.

The mask had very nice detail. I don't know where the grand's friend got it. My daughter gets the grands' costumes on Amazon. I told her the other mother that is too easy. I sewed costumes back in the day
