Did you flip that view? I see the Andromeda nebula (M31) at the top left, and Double Cluster in Persus at the middle right. I would expect to see it to the left (west) of Andromeda.
Good lord that is horrible. Seriously. Does not look a thing like a candy bar. Not even close. Have you tried cleaning your lens? Sheesh...

Nice shot for a 1 st try or 2nd. You must be happy to have opened another 'Pandoras Box' to learning more photography techniques!

It appears washed out. What settings did you use? From my limited experience, taking good Milky Way photos is technically challenging due to the low available light and long exposure times. Also, was there a lot of light pollution or were you in a dark area?
