Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
Just noticed when I logged in to Flickr saw the following notice: We’re rolling out a service update to Flickr’s download options for free accounts, and we want you to know what to expect. Starting May 15, Flickr will restrict downloads of original and large-size images (larger than 1024px) owned by free accounts. If you use a free account, this update applies to both your own content and to content shared by other free members.

It appears the largest resolution you can download with free account is 800x800. I can't find any information on how this change will affect the BBcodes.

I would hazard a guess that free users can still display higher resolution than 800x800 with bbcode linked images, unless they specified that image hosting will also be affected.

Either way, it makes me glad that some sites allow us to attach files directly to our posts so we don't need to worry about image hosting, like TPF.

G'day all

As someone who has had one of my 'simply great' images stolen for commercial use (now 15 yrs ago), I have for the last decade or more only posted images of 1000px max. I am more than happy to display my work, but to have someone else make money from my work - the answer is 'no'

Maybe this is behind the Fickr decision ... too many people realising that a right-click can 'make it theirs'

The official reason was that to many were using it as online storage for full resolution downloads, but your idea would be a side benefit

If I remember correctly...years ago this was the case for free Flickr. It was a pro feature. But with all the changes they just limited free users to 1000 uploads. Pro account only benefited from unlimited uploads, no ads, analytics and the ability to replace your photos. I noticed on the free account you can still replace your photos but they are removing that and making it a pro feature.

It's not a big deal to me. I have a love and hate relationship with Flickr. I want them to do good, the do care a lot about photography but I question their design choices and the issues with their site that occur too frequently. The early 2000s design that's still present which I like honestly. The messaging system is archaic, feels like I'm signing a guest book from a geocite (ok maybe too harsh) but yeah I'd like to see a form of direct messaging or something.

But I digress, Flickr is where it all started for me. I
