Birthday pictures

I took these pictures at my co-worker's birthday surprise party.

I would like to have some opinions on composition, lighting and anything else that could improve my shots.

I used my SB-600 flash on camera and bouced the light off the ceiling, should I have given an angle to the flash? would it have been better off camera?
We were in a restaurant not a private party.

The bounce lighting worked quit well. Even the group shot worked. The ceiling must have been a bit high. No complaints about any of them.
