Hi there ..

Firstly , I came to ask about if I do need another lens beside the 3 that
I already own .. (50mm f/1.8 + 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6 + 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6) !

And I'm thinking to get one of the following :

70-200mm f/2.8 or 14-24mm f/2.8 or 24-70mm f/2.8

Guys I need a recommendation on what lens to buy from the following two :

Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8
Nikon 14-24mm AF-S f/2.8 G ED

I guess the first one is a must-have lens , as it is very sharp and has a bigger zoom range which might
be the only feature that distinguishes it from the 14-24mm .. Concluding , if you have tried both , could
you recommend me the best ..

Personally I'd really like a 24-70mm , but I'd like to see your say
;)

Another thing on my mind is that : Does a 24-70mm fit on to a D7000 ?

Thanks!

Oh what the heck, get them both.....lol. You don't have 14-24mm covered so I'd say go with that one.

Oooh, zoom range is a sign of quality now ? My poor prime lens, dont ever tell her that !

And on what basis shall we recomment you anything ? You dont say what you're shooting and you dont say what camera you use, you dont say how important photography is to you and what you plan to spend on it in future.

i am slightly biased when it comes to ultrawide, since u have a 50 and already have mid range zoom's i would get the 14-24. I doubt i will ever get the 24-70, its a GREAT lens but its more of a convenience lens, where a 28 and a 50 prime will do the job, and will do it better.

um, do you want to shoot wide angle or do you need a higher quality replacement for your kit lens? That's essentially the beginning and end of your answer right there.

+1

The 14-24 is highly acclaimed, would be a great addition to anyone's kit if you like to shoot w i d e ... landscapes and such. I rarely shoot wider than 24mm. (FX body)

The 24-70 is my walkaround lens, good for most everything.

@Solarflare
Dude just answer the question or don't bother :)
If you bother to see my profile and see what dslr I use you'd know ;)
Thanks!

@fjrabon
Well buddy . I want a replacement for my kit lens .. shooting with a wide angle lens is not necessary though .. I photograph birds , sky views , landscapes mostly .. and portraits occasionaly ;)

then you want the 24-70. The 14-24 is a wide angle lens.

@Trever1t
Hmm you got me thinking over there .. having a variety of lenses is necessary for me .. but the big zoom range seduced me ,
Finally , do I get a 14-24 for a last say .. I guess so cause I really love photographing landscapes that much..
And as I'm soon gonna get a 70-200mm do I need it ?
Thanks buddy for the participation

what else do you have? if you have a 70-200 for portraits, get the superwide... if not, get the 24-70... if you have the middle range covered, you've got it "all" covered.. :)

well since we dont really know what you love shooting.....

You must answer that yourself and then what lens you would get the most use out of will become obvious :)

you'll have your answer when you know what you like to shoot. Develop your own shooting style before you buy the lens.

I have the 70-200 , 50mm , 85mm , what I would really want is a wide zoom.

The 50 and 85 full the mid zoom just fine for me.

Go wide especially on d7000 , I have both , d7000 and d7000 I really crave a wide for d7000

My two cents worth.

I have 17-35, 24-70, 70-200. My favorite is the 70-200 for portraiture but that's only because I don't have a 135DC or 85 f1.4 yet. Get the 24-70 if you want a good all purpose top-quality lens. Anything else will severely limit you until you do.

Why don't you look at the 17-55? Unless you plan on going FX in the future, that'd be my goto lens. ;)
