Lightning Challenge

I have got a picture of lightning a few weeks ago in one of our storms, great lightning, but terrible quality. Do what you can do.

mostly just used blur and surface blur to smooth out he squares. some sharpen and dodge to the lightning, and then curves to make the lit clouds stand out. do you have a bigger version of the picture file?

Had a little try, but i went too smooth, much like my personality lol.. (only jesting of course)

Is the blocky-ness just inevitable now that the shot has been taken like this or is there a way to get it away? (P.S. I dont have photoshop so thats why I put it on here.)

uh... not that i know of. with photoshop you can get rid of it but im not familiar with any other way. a free online prog might allow you to, but im not sure. i could have gotten rid of the blockyness entirely but it starts to mess with the textures of the image.

Its a shame too, Its a great shot of lightning, how bad do you think that this will show up on say a 5x7 print?
