Hello everyone,

I have had my eyes on the canon 24-70mm for a while. One of my friends is selling theirs for 500. The lens are the first generation and not the 24-70mm Mii.
Is $500 worth for the first gen or should I invest in the Mii?

tcid, I would hold out for the ll if you could afford it.
I own both the l&ll. I never really cared for the mkl's focus though it's a very good lens, it is after all an L lens.
I finally after a few years got a pretty good deal on a used mkll and it's a way better lens. It just focuses much more accurately and is sharper wide open. But the mkl would serve you well especially if you don't shoot big apertures a lot. It's a lot like the 24-105 mkl or the 85 1.8. They are great lenses stopped down a bit but a bit disappointing wide open.
Also the 1st generation L lenses are losing more value and harder to sell since the rise of the RF lenses. As more people move to R cameras the older stuff has much less demand than the slightly newer EF gear.
