Here cometh my try ... just done quick and dirty and not very precise.
I kept the background as it was, like it that way. Maybe the colours are a bit too intense now.

i like your winter...
.. what abourt having also some sleet/snow in front of the bird and the ground? would look more realistic then (not as realistic as my green bird though ;) )

I've used zombiekilla3k's foreground snow with my original edit, but added a shadow back in...
