ISO and F Stop

Just got my first REAL camera- A Kodak p880, and I have a few questions. From what I've seen in my tests, higher fstop is for when your subject is close in(macro) and higher iso is for low light situations. Are my suspitions correct?

The f-stop is a way of measuring aperture, the lower the number the larger the aperture. Small apertures create greatest depth of field (no blurriness) large aperture create shallowest depth of field (more blurry bits). You don't have to use a lower f-stop for macro, but most people do.

ISO - yes, the higher the number gets the more sensitive the sensor gets to light, so the higher numbers are for low light situations
