Do we need a chat room?

I think this site needs a chat room.

Since the recent injection of youthful energy...(you know who)...the forums are becoming hard to keep up with.

What do you think?

we have thought of this, and while it would be Fun, its a drain on bandwidth, but we have been actively discussing it...

Chase already goes through an awful lot to keep the bandwidth adequate....I'd say let our brainless chatter stay in the general forum. No one has to go there if they're not up for babble.

The chatroom is on the austnet.org irc server. #thephotoforum is the channel.

We have enough members now where I believe the IRC room may just see a new surge of users. The problem is, from what I have seen, that many people have no idea how IRC works.

I'm always open to other suggestions, but unless I charged a membership fee, the bandwidth would be too much of a drain on my wallet :(

Yah, IRC is easy once ya get the hang of it, but problem is I never catch anyone online. :roll: Of course, havent tried in couple of months

Like i said earlier post, i think alot of this is just a temporary thing :D Bandwidth should be a concern here because of the amount of pics that get posted.
