This pole was in the middle of nowhere? Not even sure why there would have been a fence here at one time? The ohter side of the hill is just empty desert.

Most deserts were ... if not "green pastures" then something else ... land that could be used and was used. So this fence post may be from a time when behind it there was arable land or what, but the soil had be exploited so it became a desert?
Anyhow, this is an interesting find and I like how the wood grain stands out here, and I know that it could only be brought about by using that flash which... hm, in the case of the barbed wire I do not like... Dilemma...

Really like the way the fence and wire in the picture pops out at ya, and the contrast of the desert and clouds as well as the texture of the post. Did you use flash? If you did, good call. Wonderful picture in any case

Nice composition on this one. I like how the red in the colds mimics the color of the ground.

Thanks. Yes I did use flash. It was getting dark and I couldn't get the detail in the wood without it.
