I get all of my information about photography, lenses, ect... from the internet or books. My question is how do you say some things?

For example if I were to say "I am looking into getting a EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM." How would I say EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM in words?

70-200mm f-stop 2.8?

Feel stupid asking but I don't know any other way to find out.

Thanks.

I just say 70-200 2.8

or 50 1.8

or 28-80 4 to 5.6 (this 5.6 I pronounce Five Six) So it sounds like "28 to 80, 4 to five six

Hope this helps

That sounds good to me. I would probably say "70 to 200 f 2.8", although I'd write it out "70-200mm f/2.8".

I don't think there is a single right way to say it as long as folks understand what you are saying.

Alright thanks for your help. I'm going to the Hickory Daily Record tommorow and wanted to know just in case. I didn't want to sound stupid if they did ask and name every acronym in the lens name. Though I doubt they will ask because I'm not meeting with a photographer.
