Hi...

I am interested in learning photography and I am thinking of buying a camera...

I wanted to get a (possibly quite old) manual SLR to learn on and thought it would be nice to have the aperture preview function...

Can anyone reccommend any old models of camera with this feature that were reliable and that I might be able to find secondhand in reasonable condition for about £100.

Any advice gratefully received.

The Minolta X 700 is a mighty fine SLR that has DOF preview.

You should be able to find one with a 50mm 1.7 or 1.4 lens for pretty close to your price.

Do you mean DOF or shows aperature in the viewfinder? I am only familiar with the older Minoltas, but the SRT202, XD and XE series were good cameras. Check out wwwkeh.com (very reliable) for manual focus models, and in some cases descriptions on the models. Canon, Nikon, and Pentax also made good cameras then. The Minolta x370s is still available new and would be great for someone new to photography.

I meant DOF preview where you close down the aperture without taking a photo...

Thanks

The X-370 doesn't have DOF preview but the 700 does.
