Just came accross this site with a free download. Try this to get pretty good black and white photos instead of grayscaled images. To save me waffling on just click on the link.

very interesting link ... i downloaded the filters and got some interesting results ... here are few examples:

what i usually do with my b&w with a gradient map

i think the use of the filter depends on the photo itself, the lighting conditions and the color of the person's skin-tone ... for me, this photo works best with DigiDannNC or DigiDannHC (i printed them all out) ... the DigiDannOF (orange filter) doesnt work for his skin tone .. what'ya think?
