I'm getting back into photography after a 20 year hiatus. Cut my teeth with the K-1000.

I'm getting into Equine Sports Photography, trying my hand at it at least. I work as stablemaster to my family ranch, and I get to see a lot of horses doing pretty amazing things...

This is the set I'm getting: Sigma SA-7 set (http://www.ritzcamera.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&productId=13093801&topCategory=&cat1=1006)

Mainly I'm hoping you folks will tell me that I'm good for speedy focus and action.

Looking at all the features on this, in 1983 this would have cost $2,000-$3,000 (and some of the stuff wouldn't be available at all).

Also, the lenses automatically set F-stop and Shutter Speed.

Is it normal for auto lenses to be able to lock the F-Stop?

The reason is I'd like to lock my depth of field to be very shallow. I'll deal if I can't, but it would be nice...

And, too, is anyone around here doing sports photogaphy at all? Little Leage or whatever?

:D

That reminds me of the SNL skit where they were shown a million previews before the movie. They all starred Meryl Streep.
